RTX 5070 vs RX 9070 XT — real-world gaming benchmarks

Just finished testing both cards in my test bench (Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32GB DDR5-6000, NVMe Gen5). Here are my findings at 1440p:

Cyberpunk 2077 (RT Ultra): 5070 = 78fps avg, 9070XT = 71fps avg
Elden Ring: Both locked 60fps with identical frame times
Helldivers 2: 5070 = 94fps, 9070XT = 102fps (AMD wins here)
Baldur's Gate 3 (Act 3): Both struggle at 45-55fps

The 9070 XT is genuinely competitive this gen. Driver stability has also improved massively since launch. Happy to answer questions about specific games.

Interesting that the 9070 XT wins in Helldivers 2. AMD's been killing it with Vulkan games lately. How are the thermals comparing between the two?

What about Apex at 1080p? That's still my main game and I want max frames over resolution.

Good question on Apex - at 1080p both are well over 200fps so you're really GPU-unlimited at that point. The 5070 has slightly better 1% lows though. Thermals: 5070 runs about 5C hotter but the cooler design matters more than the chip here.

As a student this is way out of my budget but dreaming is free. Great benchmarks though, really thorough!
